Author:

Class of 1974; USAF Retired, Satellite Communications Technician. Now working for City of Chattanooga as a Senior Radio Technician for Public Safety Communications. Enjoy everything "Central" due to wonderful memories; not only of my time on the Hill in Harrison, but also the great mentorship of friends who were honored to attend the Dodds Ave. Central.

  1. I have all of them. I have an extra 1927 I’ll bring over next time around. If the New Central Library has more than 2 copies of any year after 1921, Ms. Johnson will sell you the extras at $25 per (check made out to the library). The 1911 Sleepless Eye is for sale for $85 from:
    James Cummings, Bookseller
    813 Ravine
    Signal Mtn, TN, U.S.A.
    37377
    Tel: 423-468-4581

The local booksellers occasionally come up with the early Digests (1910-1918) that were bound like paperback books.

I’ll try to scan the remainder of the pre-1922 Champions asap and mail disks to the other authors.

  2. Retort to Buff Humor: Back in 2005, Bob Etter & I were fishing below Chickamauga Dam and Bob mentioned that a large catfish had recently been caught in the area we were fishing. I asked how large, and he replied that it was a 57-pounder. “Wow!” I exclaimed, “That fish was probably 66 years old.” Bob asked how I could possibly know its age. “Easy,Bob; you’re a math professor. We’re both 60 years old and ’63 Pounders, so the fish is 6 years older than we, unless it flunked a grade.” Sad but true story.

  3. I gave myself an early Christmas gift and purchased the 1911 from Mr. Cummings. I’m currently examining every page, attempting to capture the depth of pride and accomplishment the editorial staff must have felt!
