Even though this one will be re-photographed to improve focus and readability, decided to upload until we get it re-photographed next month.

Graduated from Central in 1965. Had the honor of being Mr. Central 1965. Started on the Central Basketball Team for three years and was a member of the Track Team in my senior year. Shared command with Bryant Millsaps of the Central JROTC unit in my senior year. Other activites at Central are documented in the 1963 -1965 Champions. Received an athletic scholarship and played Division I College Basketball for four years. When I graduated from Auburn in 1969, I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Adjutant General Corps and served 25 years on active duty, retiring in 1994. Some of the military awards I earned include the Legion of Merit, one Meritorious Service Medal for Achievement, six Meritorious Service Medals for Service, Joint Service Medal for Achievement, two Army Commendations Medals, and Viet Nam Service Medal. After retirement in 1994, I became a Real Estate Broker until my second retirement in 2010. I am passionate about Central History and am pleased to be Administrator of this Blog/Site.

  1. Bob: I have asked that Central students write their remembrances of their contact with Coach Stan Farmer as an athlete or student at Central from 1947 through 1979, which were the years he was at Central as a teacher, coach, or principal. I will have my secretary e-mail you a copy of the questionnaire on Monday and hope you will distribute it on your website. I have a lot of material on Coach Farmer and would like to try and put together a book on his very interesting military, coaching and personal careers. There are some great human stories out there if I can get them before it is too late. The Alumni and Supporters Assn. are helping and I am trying to get copies to each upcoming Reunion as well as the Central Connection through Ed Hoback. Contact me if any questions. Thanks for all you do. Jerry Summers ‘59

    1. Glad to assist in this worthy effort. I administer the Alumni Association Facebook and Facebook Page and will use these media in addition to Preservation of Central History sites. Butch Poole could post on the Alumni Association website. Coach Smith convinced me to focus on basketball, so I’m not a good source for stories about Coach Farmer.
