Graduated from Central in 1965. Had the honor of being Mr. Central 1965. Started on the Central Basketball Team for three years and was a member of the Track Team in my senior year. Shared command with Bryant Millsaps of the Central JROTC unit in my senior year. Other activites at Central are documented in the 1963 -1965 Champions. Received an athletic scholarship and played Division I College Basketball for four years. When I graduated from Auburn in 1969, I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Adjutant General Corps and served 25 years on active duty, retiring in 1994. Some of the military awards I earned include the Legion of Merit, one Meritorious Service Medal for Achievement, six Meritorious Service Medals for Service, Joint Service Medal for Achievement, two Army Commendations Medals, and Viet Nam Service Medal. After retirement in 1994, I became a Real Estate Broker until my second retirement in 2010. I am passionate about Central History and am pleased to be Administrator of this Blog/Site. View All Posts
Preservation of Chattanooga Central History 
Sorry about the red hand-truck in one of the photos–it really does not have any historical significance, and I would have moved it if I had noticed it there before snapping the photo.
And that is not everything. The library didn’t have room for all history so they stored it in the utility room. Plus, some memorabilia left over from the 2007 Centennial is stored in someones garage. Or yours to be stored. And finally, some items got broke and thrown away.
It would be nice if some gifted photographer would go to the school and take pictures and catalog the items.
A bit of good news is that a new octagon-shaped trophy case is being constructed in the center of the circular bench in the second photo above. I think when that project is finished some students are going to catalogue the trophies and awards so that an inventory can be started. I personally hope to Persuade our newspaper staff to “rescue” and hopefully frame the front pages from some of the old Digests and hang them throughout the school.
Great idea! As we’ve discussed, hopefully the project includes scanning all existing Digests so we can post them on the Central History Website.
